The mission of Southern Sun Farm Horse Rescue is to provide a safe, secure place for abandoned, abused, neglected or unwanted equines. We rescue horses of all types from abuse, abandonment and neglect, and work to find them loving forever homes.

Getting Involved
Volunteering
Southern Sun Farm Sanctuary is an all volunteer operation. There is no paid staff except for the occasional use of local farm workers who install/repair fences.
Our volunteers are skilled however and have erected entire buildings using locally donated materials or timber cut from our mountains and milled into lumber themselves.
Other volunteers clean stalls, wash, groom and blanket horses, assist with veterinary and farrier visits and…of course, bring horse treats.

SSFS is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt horse rescue.
SSFS has taken in horses from all over North Carolina and surrounding states. SSFS horses are adopted into loving forever homes or allowed to live out their lives at the Sanctuary.
